November and December
Thanks to everyone to stopped by Nikita's opening on Saturday. Amazing turnout, awesome music from Bosco, and lots of love. You can read more about the exhibit here and here and you can listen to an interview with Nikita and Erica here.
We're gearing up for the big move to the new space in December so we've planned a last few events to bid a proper farewell to the current space.
First, is our yART Sale on November 20th and 21st to get rid of all the art and random items we've accumulated over the years. If you're an artist who's left work here at some point, please come grab your work before then! Otherwise, it will be sold and all proceeds will go to facilitate our move. On the 20th, the sale will be at:

And on the 21st it will be at the gallery:
684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave, Unit B

Second, we've got a big closing party planned for November 27th. We'll have music from Lille and Living Rooms, a lullaby set from Book of Colors along with refreshments from Asahi.
Then, on December 3rd, we'll have our first opening in the new space! It will be our 5th Annual Postcard Pinup Show and everyone is invited to participate. This event is a great, low pressure way to get artwork in front of the MINT staff. Email erica@mintatl.org for submission info.

Tomorrow - BOOLESH1T
On Saturday, November 6th, MINT is proud to present "BOOLESH1IT" from Nikita Gale.
The show is an exploration of the evolution of the relationship between humanity and technology. The work presented in this exhibition seeks to explore the inherently fleeting nature of being human and how human beings cope both physically and psychologically with the rapidly expanding influence and permanence of digital technology wit...hin modern human civilization. Itʼs an exploration of how the human mind negotiates the massive proliferation of information in a visually-driven, post-literate age.
The name for the show “BOOLESH1T” was inspired by George Boole, creator of Boolean arithmetic. Boolean arithmetic is a mathematical system which precipitated the development of Boolean logic, a system used in electronics that spawned the creation of virtually every digital device and website on the Internet. The Internet has gone from being a source of information and social interaction to becoming a source of, well, a lot of superfluous... “SH1T”. BOOLESH1T is ultimately a visual investigation that seeks to answer questions like “How can we as human beings continue to lead meaningful, fulfilling existences in a world that is inevitably hurtling toward complete digital automation?”
“How has this overflow of information provided by the Internet affected the ways that we think and interact with others?”
”Are we becoming less compassionate?”
”Are we growing less aware of our physical selves and our surroundings?”
The gallery space will be transformed into an interactive physical and visual manifestation of the artistʼs interpretation of the Internet. The show will feature traditional photographic prints as well as photo-based installations and mixed media works.

MINT is moving!
We are pleased to announce the upcoming relocation of the gallery and art center from 684 John Wesley Dobbs Ave, Unit B to 145B Sampson Street, Atlanta, GA 30312.
“The new space is a bit more manageable and a step in the direction of a traditional gallery. It also offers more outdoor flexibility and is even more accessible to the Beltline,” says Gallery Manager Mike Germon. The relocation will allow for a more secluded event space and a more diverse spectrum of programming while remaining in the same, creative Old 4th Ward neighborhood.
The final exhibit in the current space will be “BOOLESH1T” from Nikita Gale, opening on November 6th. There is a closing party for the exhibit and the space scheduled for November 27th. It will feature refreshments and music from local bands; the lineup and other information will be announced at a later date. The Chronicles of Follicles - Chapter 2
MINT is proud to host a photography series by Travis and Nate Dorn, that chronicles the stories of a few select men, with beards, doing "man-things" like digging a hole, cutting hair, taming fire, or eating steak in the bathtub. The photos are dramatically shot, fun and maybe even a little disturbing. The subjects are men with notable beards. Some are in well-know bands, others are great filmmakers, editors, outlaws, or famous artists.Accolades for "The Chronicles of Follicles"(aka the Man-Beard photo project):
The overall series received an Honorable Mention in the 2009 International Photography Awards (out of 18,000 submissions worldwide).
"The Cult Leader" photo received a top Nominee title in the 4th Annual Photography Masters Cup Color Awards (another international competition).
P.S. The piece won in the "Nude Category".

Bellury Kills...tonight!
Our co-founder and partner in crime has been hard at working organizing his first solo exhibit in quite some time.
